 Preschool

Wilder Community Preschool is licensed by the Colorado Department of Social Services to provide early childhood education for children age 2 years 6 months through 7 years old. We are accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The Academy administers the only national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system for preschools and child care centers. The Academy is a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Wilder Community Parent Participation Preschool we believe children develop physically and mentally at their own rates, in an environment rich with materials and opportunities for play and exploration.

A DAY AT PRESCHOOL
A typical day at Wilder Parent Participation Preschool includes a children's choice play time when children select such activities as block building, dress up, puzzles, easel painting, and writing and book center.  There are teacher directed times with stories, music, math, and science experiments, excercise, creative movement, drama, filmstrips, and language development.  Snack is provided by parents.  Every other week snack is prepared and "cooked" by the children.  A large fenced playground with a sandblx, slides, climbing tower, and playhouse provides outdoor fun. Wilder Preschool children take many field trips each year.  Also, many community resource people visit our school.

OUR TEACHERS
Each class is staffed by experienced teachers with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Child Development.  Our teachers provide an empathetic, nurturing environment.  They possess an understanding of the children's developmental needs, and the activities necessary to foster maximum growth.  With a 6 to 1 child to adult ratio, individual attention is easily achieved.

PARENTS PARTICIPATE
Parents participate on a rotating basis as aides in the classroom, as well as on one of the ten committees.  Additionally, they may serve on the Board of Directors.  Parents also accompany the classes on field trips.  Fathers are encouraged to assist in the classroom.  In addition, twice yearly on weekends, there are "Dad and Me Days" when fathers come to preschool with their child.  Parent education meetings are held throughout the year.
