November and December

For the month of November, students will write persuasive pieces.  Students will be introduced to persuasive essays, articles, and letters.  Students then will be asked to write an essay and a letter to convince, persuade, or change the opinion of the reader on a particular topic. 

During the month of December, students will continue with persuasive writing and review parts of speech.  In addition, students will write letters to their Kindergarten friends.

October

Each student will be researching an explorer of his or her choice.  With the research the students will write a report.  Also, in the month of October students will be writing a variety of expository pieces.  We will continue with weekly spelling tests and daily DOL practice.
