November and December
For the month of November, students will learn about cultural differences and competition for land in the Americas between the Native Americans and the European colonists. Students will compare the relationships between the early settlers and the Native Americans and locate the land in North America that was claimed by Spain, England, France, and the Netherlands.
This unit will lead us into the study of the Thirteen Colonies. In December, students will learn about the commonality and diversity of each colony.
October
Currently, we are wrapping up our unit of study on Europeon Explorers. Students will participate in a group activity, where they will be placed in five or six different groups representing different ships. For two to three weeks each group will simulate moving across the Atlantic Ocean. Ships will move across the ocean based on assignments and participation. Everyone's effort is important. The interact is a fun learning experience.
