November and December

For the months of November and December, students are reading mysteries.  Each student was placed in a new reading group to read two great mystery novels.  Students are working on foreshadowing and making inferences. 

October  

For reading this month all 5th grade students will be completing a realistic fiction book review.  Each student will then design a power point presentation about their book.  After the book reviews they will read a second realistic fiction novel while focusing on the comprehension strategies of predicting, inferring, and evaluating.
